Billing

GuardKite uses Paddle as its subscription and payment management provider. Billing is handled on a prorated basis when upgrading or downgrading between packages. This ensures fair pricing adjustments based on the remaining billing period.

Subscription Management

Changing Your Subscription Plan

You can upgrade or downgrade your GuardKite plan from the Billing Page.

  1. Click the Change button next to your current plan.
  2. Select your desired plan and confirm the change.
  • If upgrading, you will be charged the prorated amount immediately.
  • If downgrading, any unused portion of your current plan will be credited towards future invoices.

Cancelling Your Subscription

If you wish to cancel your GuardKite subscription:

Click the Cancel link under your current plan details.

Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. If you change your mind, you can cancel the cancellation before the end of the billing period. No further charges will be made after the cancellation date.

After cancellation is complete and you wish to re-subscribe, you will need to perform a fresh subscription.

Resource Usage Calculation

GuardKite monitors resource usage based on the number of unique cloud resources scanned each day across all AWS accounts in your tenant.

  • Daily Usage - Each day, GuardKite counts the total number of unique resources scanned across all AWS accounts.
  • Monthly Billing - The total monthly usage is calculated as the sum of daily unique resources scanned throughout the month.
  • Plan Limits - Each subscription plan includes a limit on the total number of cloud resources that can be monitored. If you exceed your plan's limit, you may need to upgrade.

Example Calculation

If 5,000 unique resources are scanned daily across all AWS accounts, then the total monthly usage is:

5,000 × 30 (days) = 150,000 unique resource scans per month.

You can view your current usage and plan limits on the Billing page.

Prorated Billing

Upgrading Your Plan

When you upgrade to a higher-tier package, the prorated value of the upgraded package is charged immediately. The cost is calculated based on the number of days remaining in the current billing cycle, ensuring fair pricing adjustments.

Example:

  • You are on a $30/month plan.
  • You upgrade to a $60/month plan.
  • The upgrade is made 15 days into the billing cycle.

Calculation:

  1. Unused portion of current plan = ($30 ÷ 30 days) × 15 days = $15 (credited)
  2. Cost of the upgraded plan for the remaining 15 days = ($60 ÷ 30 days) × 15 days = $30 (charged)
  3. You will be charged $15 immediately for the upgrade, $30 (charge) - $15 (credit) = $15 (immediate charge).

Downgrading Your Plan

When you downgrade to a lower-tier package, the already paid amount for the higher package is credited towards future invoices. However, the cost of the downgraded plan for the remaining days is deducted before applying credits. This ensures fair pricing adjustments.

Example:

  • You are on a $60/month plan.
  • You downgrade to a $30/month plan.
  • The downgrade is made 15 days into the billing cycle.

Calculation:

  1. Unused portion of current plan = ($60 ÷ 30 days) × 15 days = $30 (credited)
  2. Cost of the downgraded plan for the remaining 15 days = ($30 ÷ 30 days) × 15 days = $15 (deducted)
  3. You will be credited $30 for the downgrade, but $15 will be deducted for the remaining days, $30 (credit) - $15 (deduction) = $15 (remaining credit for future billing)
